Blueberries - Vaccinium corymbosum - are perennial flowering plants with
indigo-colored berries. They are classified in the section Cyanococcus
within the genus Vaccinium which includes cranberries, bilberries and grouse
berries. Commercial blueberries are native to North America, and the highbush
varieties were not introduced into Europe until the 1930s.
Organic frozen blueberries are used for the production of organic smoothies,
yoghurts, jams, milks, ice creams, preserves, beverages, baked goods like desserts, cakes
and pies, and toppings. On the other hand,
frozen blueberries are further processed to be used in brewing, and for the production
of technical organic ingredients like compunds and sauces.
